HAKKORYU MARTIAL ARTS FEDERATION

The Hakkoryu Martial Arts Federation (HMAF) was officially established on 1 January 1974, in San Angelo, Texas, to promote the teachings of Hakkoryu JuJutsu and Shotokan Karate. The ideals of the HMAF are to train students to appreciate the values of traditional martial arts training, discipline, respect, and the rewards of this training. The HMAF sets the criteria for testing and promotion for its members, supervises all testing, tests all Black Belt candidates, sponsors clinics and special training, and recommends students for advancement to Senior level promotions. It awards all certificates of training, promotion, and rank, and provides the items and services requested by its members at reasonable costs.

The HMAF also has separate training and ranking sections for SHOTOKAN Karate, TANG SOO DO, Police Defensive-Initiative Tactics (DITI), and the Personal Empowerment Program (P.E.P.) -a Full Force Rape Prevention System. Shihan Palumbo is duly authorized and certified to award all ranks issued by the HMAF. The name HAKKOSEN is an expansion of the term HAKKO RYU. HAKKO RYU means "School of eight lights" and HAKKOSEN means "Eighth Ray of Light". Of all the schools in the HMAF, not all are named HAKKOSEN. Schools are either affiliated or registered schools (with 10 or more active students).
